background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>The Society for the Neurobiology of Language invites symposium submissions for the 2021 virtual meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Symposium proposals should target topics that are likely to be of broad interest to SNL members, as well as influence the direction of science in our community.\u00a0 Compelling symposia include topics that <strong>highlight a current debate in the field<\/strong>, <strong>introduce new methods or techniques, or challenge the status quo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Topics that are of especially high interest include (but are not limited to) advances in statistical methods, integration of natural language processing (NLP) data with neurolinguistics, advances in lesion-symptom mapping and functional neuroimaging methods for neurological disorders (e.g., aphasia), longitudinal assessment of treatment-induced gains, genetic and epigenetic factors in language development, predictive coding and speech processing, and the role of the motor system in language, among many other topics.<\/p>\n<h2>Diversity<\/h2>\n<p>We encourage symposium organizers to consider diversity on many dimensions, including diversity of perspective, discipline, and demographics.<\/p>\n<h2>Symposium Structure<\/h2>\n<p>Symposium sessions will last two hours and <strong>must <\/strong>have at least four, and up to six, <strong><\/strong>15-minute talks, with five minutes following each talk for discussion. Organizers may also choose to reserve one slot for a moderated panel discussion. In general, organizers have flexibility in the structure of the symposium, but the symposium <strong>must<\/strong> <strong>fit within the two-hour block.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Submission Requirements<\/h2>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Symposium submissions must come from one organizer and must include an assurance that all contributors agree with the content and form of the submission. The organizer must be a current SNL member. Submissions must include the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Symposium Title<\/li>\n<li>Symposium Abstract (150 words) that describes the overarching theme of the symposium<\/li>\n<li>A proposed schedule indicating the timing of the symposium, including time for introductions, talks, discussion, and Q&amp;A<\/li>\n<li>For each individual presentation (up to six):<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 3em;\">Title and abstract (150 words) for each individual presentation<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 3em;\">Name, title, affiliation, and email address of the presenter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please email <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"c-link\" data-stringify-link=\"mailto:info@neurolang.org\" delay=\"150\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" aria-haspopup=\"menu\" aria-expanded=\"false\" href=\"mailto:info@neurolang.org\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">info@neurolang.org<\/a>\u00a0with any questions about topic or format.<\/p>\n<p>All presenters in accepted symposia are expected to register for the meeting.<\/p>\n<h2>Proposal Review<\/h2>\n<p>Symposia will be competitively reviewed by the Program Committee, and decisions will be returned to the organizers before the deadline for slide and slide slam submissions.
